NAIROBI (GG) — The family and neighbors of a Kiamaiko businessman have issued a stringent 24-hour ultimatum to the Kenyan government to disclose his location and secure his release following his alleged abduction by security officers six days ago.

The missing man, identified as Abdul Aziz Duba Molu—popularly known within his community as “Zizo” or “Zizou”—disappeared on Tuesday evening, June 23. His family maintains that he was intercepted by armed men who identified themselves as police officers hailing from the Juja division in neighboring Kiambu County.

According to eye-witness accounts provided by his colleagues, Duba had traveled from his home in Nairobi’s Huruma Estate to supervise the structural fencing of a newly acquired piece of land in Juja. On his return journey, two vehicles, including an unmarked vehicle operating without registration plates, intercepted his transport team. Armed men carrying AK-47 rifles reportedly demanded to know who “Badi” was before separating Duba from his associates and driving away to an undisclosed destination.

The business operator’s brothers and community representatives stated on Sunday that they have systematically visited multiple police stations and formal processing facilities across the Nairobi and Kiambu jurisdictions, but the National Police Service has consistently denied holding him in state custody. The family maintains that if Duba is suspected of violating any domestic law, constitutional procedures require authorities to arraign him formally before a court of law rather than holding him in an uncommunicated facility beyond the statutory 24-hour limit.

The prolonged disappearance has transformed the meat-processing hub of Kiamaiko into a highly volatile flashpoint for civil unrest over the weekend. For two consecutive days, hundreds of demonstrations blockaded major transit arteries, bringing commercial traffic along Nairobi’s Outer Ring Road to a complete standstill. The protests deteriorated into running battles with anti-riot units, resulting in one civilian fatality and multiple injuries during violent confrontations on Friday.

Human rights defense groups across Kenya have expressed growing alarm regarding the case, highlighting it as part of an escalating and disturbing trend of extrajudicial abductions targeting business owners, activists, and youth operators. Local civil leaders warned that if the state fails to produce Duba or provide clarity on his physical condition within the designated window, civil disobedience campaigns and commercial shutdown strikes will resume indefinitely across the sub-county until he is located.
