ELDORET, Kenya — A violent late-night collision on the Eldoret-Nakuru Road left several people injured on Thursday, June 11, 2026, after two vehicles lost control and slid off the highway into the roadside brush.

The accident occurred at approximately 11:00 PM. While the road was reportedly quiet at the time, the impact was severe enough to send both vehicles careening off the main pavement. When witnesses arrived, they found one vehicle completely overturned, while the second remained upright but sustained heavy damage to its front end.

At the scene, a man—believed to be the driver of the overturned vehicle—was observed assisting a female passenger out of the wreckage. Witnesses who stopped to help reported that the man appeared to be in a state of deep shock and was unable to provide a clear account of what led to the crash.

“We arrived to find both cars already off the road,” a witness told GuledGurey.com. “One car had rolled over, and the other was badly smashed at the front. The man was busy rescuing a lady from the overturned car. When we asked if anyone else was trapped inside, he said everyone was out.”

The female passenger reportedly suffered minor injuries, specifically to her legs, but no fatalities were reported from either vehicle.

The cause of the Eldoret-Nakuru Road accident remains unknown, though the position of the cars and the nature of the damage suggest a high-speed impact, possibly during an attempted overtaking maneuver. Because the road was not busy at the time, there were no other motorists involved.

As of the time of the recording, no police or emergency medical services had arrived at the scene. Bystanders and the survivors themselves managed the initial rescue efforts in the darkness.

The Eldoret-Nakuru highway is a vital transit corridor, but it is frequently cited for safety concerns, particularly during night-time hours when visibility is low and emergency response times can be delayed.

Local authorities are expected to tow the wreckage and begin a formal investigation into the crash on Friday morning.
