LONDON — England, Croatia, and Ghana have officially secured their places in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 knockout stage following the conclusion of the final Group L fixtures on Saturday evening.

The simultaneous final group stage matches brought a definitive end to the opening round of the tournament for the section, leaving Panama mathematically eliminated from the global competition. Under the expanded 48-team tournament rules, the results allowed three nations from a single group to advance, with two teams qualifying directly and the third processing forward as one of the best third-placed wildcard selections.

Thomas Tuchel’s England squad secured the top seed in Group L, maintaining their unbeaten run in the tournament. The Three Lions managed to navigate the group stage with tactical discipline, resting several key players in their final match while ensuring they avoided potential heavyweight matchups in the immediate single-elimination bracket.

Croatia advanced into the knockout bracket as the group runners-up. The veteran European squad demonstrated their trademark tournament resilience, relying on structured defensive displays and midfield control to neutralize opposing attackers during the high-stakes group finale.

The group dynamic opened the door for Ghana to progress as well. The Black Stars rebounded from an earlier setback in the tournament to accumulate enough points and a sufficient goal differential to lock in their status as one of the eight best third-placed teams across the 12 tournament groups. Their qualification ensures that Africa maintains strong representation heading into the high-intensity single-elimination phase.

Conversely, Panama’s World Cup campaign came to an end after failing to secure the necessary points to challenge for a wildcard slot. Despite a spirited performance in their final group fixture, the Central American side finished at the bottom of the Group L standings and will depart the tournament ahead of Sunday’s knockout opener.

FIFA’s tournament directors confirmed that the exact scheduling, venues, and opponent pairings for England, Croatia, and Ghana will be fully populated within the next few hours as the world governing body finalizes the complete 32-team bracket layout for the remainder of the week.
