Liverpool v Arsenal: what the result can do to the table
Both clubs reach Anfield having played a penalty shootout in midweek, Arsenal in defeat and Liverpool in victory. The league table does not carry that distinction, only the points.
On the Matchday 8 figures, a Liverpool win would put them on 18 points against Arsenal’s 21, a gap of three. An Arsenal win would take them to 24 and leave Liverpool on 15, nine points behind. A draw would leave the gap at six, with Arsenal on 22 and Liverpool on 16.
Arsenal have won seven of their eight league games. Liverpool have won four and drawn three, and a Liverpool defeat would be their second of the season.
The goal columns show a similar split. Arsenal have conceded five goals in eight league games, Liverpool eight. Liverpool have scored 11, Arsenal 13.
What happens next
Liverpool v Arsenal kicks off at Anfield on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 4:30 p.m. GMT, which is 7:30 p.m. EAT, according to Liverpool FC.
